Discover

Orignally published in Opening Hira's Life!

In the main stream of events on-going every day, very few tend to leave an impact on our mind and thoughts. One of those few events struck my eye because of its unique name, ‘Discover’.

A wise man once said, ‘You have to leave the city of your comfort and go into the wilderness of your ‘intuition’. What you’ll discover will be wonderful. What you’ll discover is YOURSELF’.

Following the very same objective, NUST Centre for Innovation & Entrepreneurship (NUST-CIE), in its ongoing quest to promote Innovation & Entrepreneurship has launched a national level student Business Plan Competition, titled “DISCOVER – Prosperity through Entrepreneurship”. More than 2,000 students have joined the league so far. This comprehensive program has started from Feb 15th, 2011 to June 18th, 2011. The competition is comprised of four rounds in which participating teams will go through a rigorous mentoring and coaching program. One of the salient features of the program is that the participants can be from any discipline; in fact multidisciplinary teams would be preferred. The Mission of DISCOVER is: “to define a path towards creating a self-sustaining eco-system for higher education and wealth generation”. As our main work is to ‘discover’ our work and THEN will all our heart to give ourselves to it.

When we examine the lives of the most influential people who have ever walked among us, we discover one thread that winds through them all. They have been aligned first with their spiritual nature and only then with their physical selves. Even though many readers wouldn’t be able to be part of event ‘physically’, but not to forget that ‘spiritual’ connection is what matters most. We all have different desires and needs, but if we don’t discover what we want from ourselves and what we stand for, we will live passively and unfulfilled. So, for today, let us aim to ‘discover’ our priorities first. As Richard Grant rightly said, ‘The value of identity of course is that so often with it comes purpose.’

May Allah be your guider and helper in all you do. (Ameen)
